  1. Hi Catrin, my name is caroline i live in Greenfield Avenue Glyncoch. Am i right in thinking you parents once lived here too ?
You picture of the pontypridd workhouse caught my eye yesterday, my grandfather was the engineer there for several years. He is on one of the phtographs you shared. I showed my mother who also lives in Greenfield Avenue , she was so pleased to see her Dad. My mother is 89. My mother was raised in Maesycoed in a house called the lodge. Right in front of the childrens home. I have a feeling the house came with my Grandfathers engineering job.
Looking forward to reading your book’s about Pontypridd.
My son is an author, at the moment he is living in South Dakota he’s been there foe 8 years. He owns a book shop down town. He will also be interested in reading your work.
    Many thanks for listening.

    1. Dear Caroline, Thank you for writing and my apologies for not replying sooner, but I have only just found this page. Reminder to myself – I must take time to explore my web site further. Yes, my parents spent many happy years in 6 Greenfield Avenue and my children adored visiting them there. My parents’s neighbours were fantastic and without the help of their good friends – and now mine – Diane and Neil Langford in number 1 we would never have been able to keep my parents at home as long as we did. I wish your son every success in hi career, writing is a hard, lonely and difficult occupation but for me the plusess outweigh the minuses every time. So much so my daughter now writes children’s books as Sophie Anderson and my eleven year olf grandson Alec Andersson also writes (and publishes) graphic novels.
Thank you again for getting in touch, and the information about your grandfather the engineer and the lodge in Maesycoed. I went to Maesycoed School and can recall both the children’s home and the lodge – the lodge was a fine building. You will also find me on twitter and Facebook where I am usually not so tardy about replying.
