Glyndwr by Catrin Collier

I’m really looking forward to visiting Llantrisant Guildhall this autumn and meeting everyone. I’ll be talking about my latest project, reading extracts from the novel and sharing my views on the film industry.

  2. Thank you for posting, Roger, I wish you well with your metal detecting and historical research, warmest wishes, Catrin Collier

    1. Thank you for taking the time and trouble to post. Your comment has given me the strength to wade through all the research on my desk to continue the great man’s story. It is very much appreciated.

  3. I have read some excellent stuff here Definitely value bookmarking for revisiting I wonder how much effort you put to make the sort of excellent informative website

    1. After I agreed to write a book covering the known facts about Owain Glyndwr, I uncovered so much information (and so many contested stories about the great man) I discovered one book was simply not enough. My one book became four as I lived and breathed Glyndwr for five years, and visited every historical site in Wales that boasted (some erroneously) links to the man behind the legend. I held conversations over the internet with American university professors whose research had led them to develop theories I’d never even heard discussed in Wales. So many documents mentioned in contemporary monastic records have disappeared from the face of the earth. I believe his Pennal letter only survived because it was sent to the King of France and remained secure in French records. I have come to the conclusion there was a concerted effort by the then authorities, (especially the minions of the English crown) to wipe Owain Glyndwr’s deeds and memory from the history books. Every time I referred to the Tripartide map, I wonder what Welsh and English history would have been had Owain Glydwr, Edmund Mortimer and the Henry Hotspur succeeded in their aim of overthrowing Henry IV.
