    1. Dear Gregory,
Thank you so much for asking. I am – honest – writing as fast as I can. The main problem I’m having with Book 3 is not what to put into the book but what to leave out. I am very conscious that this is supposed to be a 4 book series, but there were so many battles, so many alliances, and I have also discovered a wealth of information in various medieval documents and the Mortimer Family papers about Glyndwr that have led me to form my own opinions and theories about the great man and the mystery of his final days – theories I know will horrify some people. I have just emerged from a week spent at the battle of Bryn Glas so progress is being made and I’m aiming to publish Book 3 by the autumn. Hope and dread – I feel as though the great man has moved into my study and I know I will be bereft and slide into post book depression when I am finally forced to let him go. Warm Wishes, Catrin.

  1. Hi Catrin.
Thanks so much for your help giving this talk which as you know I have helped arrange on behalf of Pontypridd Historical Society.
I look forward to it immensely.
I wondered if later in the year you could give a talk either virtually or face to face on another of the many topics I know you cover?
    Very best regards
    Howard Thomas

    1. I would be absolutely delighted, Howard. Just pick a topic I’ve researched from my listed books, or let me know if you’d prefer a talk on creative writing? Really looking forward to next Wednesday. Warm wishes, Catrin.

  2. FREE ZOOM TALK (link to register for your free place (click here for Home events page – http://www.catrincollier.co.uk) PONTYPRIDD DURING THE DEPRESSION YEARS. It’s a topic close to my heart because it takes me to the town when my father was a young man and back to when I spent a full year researching in Pontypridd’s magnificent library with the help of their even more magnificent staff. A week from today, at 7.30 I will be talking in partnership with Pontypridd Historical Society on Zoom, courtesy of Garth-Olwg.cymru. If anyone has any questions they want to raise, or a topic they’d like to discuss please post on my discussion page, (link below). If you’d like to know more about Pontypridd’s own 40 thieves, the bookie’s runners who flourished during the lean years, the workhouse, Pontypridd’s Boxing heroes or our beautiful “lost” buildings, the privations that came with wartime – and the GI”s or just talk about the town that I love that will always be “home” to me, please post. I look forward to hearing from you, and “meeting” you virtually at 7.30 p.m. on the 7th April, http://catrincollier.co.uk/your-questions-comments/

  3. Thanks for the good writeup. It in truth was a enjoyment account it. Glance complicated to far brought agreeable from you! By the way, how could we communicate?

  4. Hiya Catrin
It is a long time since we were in touch. I have not been able to read your books lately because of my arthritis. I now use technology which I am not keen on. Anyway I saw some of your ebooks on Amazon and to cut a long story short I am reading Hearts of Gold again.
I have to say though that The Last Summer is still my favourite of all books. I am going to get Gwydwr next. Can I have the man on the front cover or do I have to wait in line lol.

  5. Hello, Marilyn, how wonderful to hear from you. Please don’t lose touch again (my direct e-mail is catrincollier@aol.com) . The man on the cover – is every bit as wonderful as he looks, but yes I’m afraid there is a long line ahead. Julian Lewis Jones is not only a brilliant and dedicated actor but one of the most thoughtful and kindest men I’ve met. (He won’t thank me for writing that.)

    1. I am afraid that I have problems sending emails because I do not have enough technical no how to do that. I can only reply to emails. I will not lose touch again as I have found that you do ebooks. I would much prefer a proper book but my disability prevents that.
I am just finishing the second Hearts of Gold book. I really enjoy your books.

      1. Thank you so much for that comment Marilyn. It is much appreciated. I will e-mail you shortly, so we can “talk” outside the website. Warmest wishes, Catrin.

  6. Hello there, I have just finished reading Glyndwr (1) which I obtained from my local library {such a good library}. Thank you for making me look further into our Welsh Anthem, as the words “where our minstrels are honoured and free” now come to life for me; also the line ‘and may the old language endure’ takes on a new meaning.
I now intend reading Glyndwr (2) and I understand there is a (3), ro look forward to.
Many thanks again Catrin or Katherine, if you would prefer.

  7. Hadn’t realised the 3rd book in Tsar’s Dragons had arrived! Felt I must tell you how much I enjoyed all 3. I am John Hughes’ Great Granddaughter – just wish my mum, Mary Hughes, had still been alive to enjoy your trilogy but she was part of the expedition we made to Donetsk in 1989, together with descendants of the original Welshmen and women who all helped to build this amazing town – all very poignant now – I have a box of New Russia company share certificates!! And an original portrait of John Hughes hangs on my wall.

  8. Hello, my question is when book 4 of Glyndwr is likely to be published? As I’ve read the first 3 avidly and longing for more! Fantastic books, I have loved reading them and have taken around 10 days to read books 1-3! Cannot put down.

    1. Thank you for asking, Linda. I hope it will be published late spring early summer. Hands up, I confess, it’s been delayed because of illness. But following surgery I am back at my desk, Glyndwr has moved back into my study and together we are trying to unpick the mystery of his last days. I admit after living with Glyndwr for four years it is proving a hard book to write as it will mean parting company from him, and that is going to be very hard to do. Thank you again for asking and warmest wishes, Catrin.

      1. Thanks so much! Looking forward to it immensely! I only recently came upon your Glyndwr series and as I said before found them brilliant to read, the characters really became real to me, like family, so much so they mattered to me. Thank you for that! X
