"THE VANISHED" A NEW TREVOR JOSEPH CRIME BOOK AVAILABLE IN PRINT AND AS AN E-BOOKS ON AMAZON

I HAVE WANTED TO WRITE A BOOK ABOUT THE SCANDAL OF CHILDREN WHO DISAPPEAR IN "CARE" IN THE UK FOR MANY YEARS. THE REASONS ARE OUTLINED IN THE AUTHOR’S NOTES IN THE BOOK.

AUTHOR’S NOTES

LITTLE MISS NOBODY

Karen Price, christened ‘Little Miss Nobody’ by the media, was a 15-year-old from my home town of Pontypridd. She disappeared in 1981.

Two construction workers renovating a house in Cardiff in 1989 discovered a rolled carpet while working in a garden behind a house. When the carpet was unrolled, the skeletal remains of a young female were revealed. Tests determined that the girl had been dead for approximately 10 years.

As there was nothing on the remains to assist with identification, British facial reconstruction artist Richard Neave  used the skull to create a model of the girl’s physical appearance. The reconstruction and the matching of DNA in the body to that of Price’s parents allowed her to be identified. The case was cited as one of the first instances in which DNA technology was used in this way.

Prior to the discovery of her body it had been assumed that Price had run away from the children’s home where she had been a resident and turned to prostitution. In 1991, Idris Ali and Alan Charlton, who were alleged to have managed her solicitation as a prostitute, were charged with her murder. Ali’s charge was eventually reduced to manslaughter, and he was released in 1994. Charlton is still serving a life sentence. On the 8th March 2016 the appeal of both men against their convictions was dismissed.

No one had reported Karen Price missing.
